Bring Out Your Dead

Sandy, Anne and Susie

But, I’m not dead yet! Yesterday, we were on the beach watching the sailboats parade by, upstream to their lighthouse starting line and heard voices from Don and Katie’s cabin. Sandy and Susie and their families were posing for a group photo on their deck, like what we do on ours. So, we went over to visit and stayed for a funeral. Last year Judd had built a family memorial and today they had an internment for the ashes of Don, Katie, Mac, Jim and Mac’s two twenty year-old cats. The original plan was to place them in the center of the memorial, but the flowers there were just too beautiful to dig up, so a communal grave was dug in front of it. It was a simple ceremony, but sweet in its own way.
