Monument Valley

Monument Valley

Today we left the alpine meadows of the Kaibob, just north of the Grand Canyon and headed east to Monument Valley. On the way we stopped at the Navajo Bridge again, for some more condors. We saw four today, including old K6. They were all hunkered down under the bridges. Got more good shots of them. We stopped at Page again for some resupply. They were expecting a hundred today, so we didn’t tary long there. Monument Valley is a Navajo park. We first checked out their visitors center and then we attempted the 15 mile driving loop on the valley floor. That was a mistake. The road is designed for 4-wheel drive, high clearance vehicles and not a Prius. Anyway, we made it back OK. We couldn’t get a room in the park, but we ate dinner there. It was both authentic and delicious. We did get a hotel with a view of the valley for tonight, just outside the park.
