1812 Brig Niagara

Anne and I found our bicycles today. So, we rode out to the lighthouse. On the way out, we stopped at the Dancing Crane. This is the Bay Mills Indian Tribe’s coffee shop. Of course we cruised up in full Kaldi’s bike attire, but hey, we support local coffee, in Saint Louis or anywhere. Anne made sure that I didn’t park my bike in the sand rutted drive-thru lane. The lighthouse mentioned is the Point Iroquois one. The Rez continues to prosper and grow. We crossed this newly paved road named Plantation. I wonder where that leads? On the way back, we stopped at the ‘Bear’s Den’. Formerly known as the Tee-Pee Cone, this ice cream stand goes where others have failed. Still, it was a welcomed stop.

The Brig Niagara pictured above was headed downbound. It is slated to join tomorrow’s 1812 reenactment activities on Mackinac Island. Canadian re-enactors are salivating over their chances to reclaim this choice island. Maybe they will kick out the Fords and Rockefellers and then institute socialized medicine. No, more than likely, they will enjoy their visit to the States and then be even happier when they get home to their lovely commonwealth. That’s what makes them such friendly neighbors to the north.

Anne and I fixed dinner tonight. We pried from Harry, his sacred spatula. Anne made brats and I made tabouli. It turned out quite well, if I do say so myself. Tomorrow is a day without plans. I wonder what will occur? Not war that is for sure.
