One ringtone to rule them all & with a 2 year contract bind them

Happy Easter!  I hope that everyone is enjoying their holiday.  Anne and I plan on combining our celebration of Easter with a celebration of Dan’s twenty-fifth birthday because, twenty-five years ago the Easter Bunny brought us Dan.  Actually, Anne did all the work, but I was there to offer her ice chips.  I never did see any rabbit, but damn does she make good babies.

So on Saturday I took the plunge and bought not one, not two, not even three, but four iPhones, how decadent.  Anne and I went back home and immediately started playing with them.  Actually we were just trying to figure out how to use them.  We skirted dangerously close to wasting a gorgeous afternoon, but pulled back from the brink.

The iPhone is everything that I expected.  It is a so-so phone, but is also the best handheld computer around.  I look forward to learning its secrets.  I also look forward to having it, while I wait every morning at Starbucks and elsewhere.  I’ll be exploring apps and maybe even twitter too, we’ll see where this goes and what this all means.

I went for a bike ride in the Park.  I got fifteen miles.  I saw the owlet again and also the pair of Red-bellied Woodpeckers pictured below.  I think that they were in courtship.  Actually, I think that they were well past that stage of their relationship.  Birds do it, Bees do it, …

Mostly I just cruised about the Park on Saturday, but on the way home I got chased.  I had just turned onto the bike path at Forsyth and started uphill along Skinker.  Behind me, I saw another cyclist crossing Forsyth.  The chase had begun.  We climbed together, pacing each other sometimes I surged ahead, sometimes he did.  I held him off until I reached the cross walk light into the DeMun neighborhood.  He would have caught me if the race had continued until the top of the hill.  He knew it.  I knew it and he knew I knew it, but is it my fault that I was headed for home?

Anne went out to Laumeier Sculpture Park for a knit-in.  Well actually it was a knit-out since it was held outside.  The artist Mark Newport author of the Self-Made Man show was moderating this knitting event.  I had covered his show before here, when Anne and I saw it in February.  Anne had a lot of fun knitting and hanging out, but she didn’t take any pictures.

That’s okay, I have a picture of Redbud buds to share.  Redbud is a large shrub or small tree native to the eastern United States, primarily in the Mississippi River valley.  Redbud and Dogwood are what I think of for Spring in Missouri.  Redbud blooms first and Dogwood later.

Unfortunately, Michigan State lost to Butler on Saturday night.  They had a good run, but I guess it just was not to be.  We had lost out our best player to injury, but still continued to win.  There is always next year.  🙁

  1. iPhone + Starbucks = GET THE STARBUCKS MOBILE CARD APP! (If you have your Sbux card registered, you can update, and yes, even reload it from your iPhone!) Soon… you will even be able to use your iPhone as a “card” at your Sbux (already can do at the Sbuxes at Target stores), complete with the scannable symbol (it’s not a barcode that’s displayed, think it’s been referred to as a 3D scanning symbol…. or something).

And the “Bump” application. I haven’t used it yet, but it’s a cool idea for exchanging contact information.

Ohhhh, yeah, the iPhone is definitely an addiction 🙂 but I can think of worse!!

  2. I found out MSU lost late last night – missed the game. But at least WV lost too.
I have both teams left in our family bracket. Carl said something about having my winnings with him in CA …. don’t know if they’ll make it back north.
