Get Out of the Car!

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle.  She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs, “I have a gun, and I know how to use it!  Get out of the car!”  The four men didn’t wait for a second threat.  They got out and ran like mad.

The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the diver’s seat.  She was so shaken that she could not get her key in the ignition.  She tried and tried, and then she realized why,  It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee, and two 12-packs of beer in the front seat.  A few minutes later, she found her car parked four or five spaces further down.  She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the police station to report the mistake.

A sergeant to whom she told the story couldn’t stop laughing.  He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun.  No charges were filed.  Moral of the story?  If you’re going to have a senior moment … make it memorable.

Both ot today’s pictures were taken by Anne.  The header in March of 2002.  I’m guessing that she was there as part of the land dispute.  The Queen Anne’s lace, I don’t know, almost any summer.

OBTW, I heard the f-word on the radio on the way to work this morning.  I was listening to KDHX, an alternative public radio station.  Normally, I listen to NPR, but that station is in fund raising mode, so I was surfing the dial.  It was in a lyric of a song, that went something like, ” … and Yoko taught us how to f—.”  Is this more common then I thought it was?  Have I been leading a sheltered NPR life?  I thought that the FCC was cracking down on this?

  1. Huh. 2002, that is. I know the land meeting we went to was in 1999 because Liz was a high school freshman. I’m just trying to think why Pooh might’ve been up there in 2002… I wasn’t quite blahgging then, so I guess I can’t check 🙂

  2. I’d have to agree with Kayak Woman, as I was student teaching in March, 2002. Spring Break was spent trying to catch up on lesson plans, grading, and sleep — not necessarily in that order. I’m pretty sure I didn’t take the time to go to the Sault.

Perhaps our elegant filing system is to blame?
