Rest Day

Kayaking Woman

Today was a rest day. It came after a day of frenetic driving and another of equally frenetic vacationing. Yesterday, I walked the beach, swam, kayaked, swam again, walked again and swam again and again and again. I sort of lost track of things, except to say that I was sore this morning. It was that good kind of sore though. The kind that comes from lots of physical work.

Last night was a dark and stormy night. There is a certain pleasure to be gained from listening to the falling rain beat down upon the uninsulated roof above you. Especially, as you lay snug and dry in the dark, next to the one you love.

I pretty much knew that today was going to be a rest day, from the moment that I woke-up. I didn’t jump-up, like yesterday and walk the beach before the humans drove the real beach population to cover. I lay in bed and then I played with pictures and this blog. Many thanks to the Courtois and their loverly WiFi.

We pulled shopping duty today. So, Anne and I drove into town to buy grokeries. On the way in, we noticed that the tired light was on. We stopped at the Admiral and got pumped up. We will pump you up! Thump! Thump!

We went to Wal-Mart, because we needed to pick up a certain generic brand, i.e. Wal-Mart brand product. I don’t normally shop at Wal-Mart. In fact, I never shop at Wal-Mart. I felt like a sinner traveling an un-holy land. There is a highly successful website entitled, People of Wal-Mart. It basically makes fun of Wal-Mart’s clientele. It is cruel, but it is also funny. At least, I didn’t see any patrons trying to build a meth lab in the store that I visited. I was doing fine until checkout time. Anne and I became separated. I was afraid that she had left me to become one of the people of Wal-Mart. 🙁

We made it back to the beach, safe and sound. The triplets de la Port took over kayak duty. I think that they dragged Anne and Bill’s kayaks further down the beach than they made it out into the lake. The beach was populated with many children and quite a few small dogs. It is considerably cooler here tonight, and more the welcome for that climate change!
